the café at No.98

Here at No.98 we love coffee... burgers and coffee... coffee and burgers... Our two favourite things are burgers and coffee... and breakfast... Our three favourite things are burgers, coffee and breakfast... and an almost fanatical devotion to cakes... Our four... no: Amongst our favourite things... amongst our food.. are such elements as burgers, coffee...

No.98 is right in the heart of Kinross and there's plenty of free parking nearby. Loch Leven is ideal for a walk or cycle ride, with a 21km heritage trail, nature reserve and boat trips to the historic castle. And when you're ready for refuelling, we're just a few minutes' walk from the shores of the loch.

covid-19 info

We're delighted to be back open for customers to sit in, and are gradually increasing our opening hours while we adjust our procedures to take account of social distancing, etc.

We don't take bookings, so if you'd like to enjoy your meal inside the cafe, or pop in for a coffee, just come along and we'll hopefully have a table for you. If you're ordering hot food to take away, we strongly suggest phoning ahead (01577 862542) to get your pick up time. When customers are sitting in the cafe, we won't be allowing anyone to stand around waiting inside as there simply isn't room to maintain social distancing.

In line with government guidance, we are operating on 1 metre distancing - we've got some screens in place and have reduced the number of tables inside to allow for that. We're asking all customers to continue to wear their face coverings unless they're seated.

Of course, if you are experiencing any of the symptoms of covid-19 (high temperature, new persistent cough, loss of taste) or if you've been in contact with anyone who is or who has tested positive for the virus, please don't come in - we look forward to seeing you again when you've got the all clear!

In line with the Test & Protect scheme, we'll be asking our sit in customers to provide a contact name and telephone number. This information will be held only so long as it's needed - if you're interested, please ask to see our privacy policy. It is not compulsory to provide this information, but may help to reduce the spread of the virus.

As always, many thanks to all our customers for bearing with us while we get used to the new procedures.

our coffee

Our amazing coffee beans are provided by Union Coffee Roasters. Based in London, they've been roasting since 2001 and work directly with farmers all over the world, paying on average 50% over Fair Trade prices to ensure top quality beans, sustainable farming and happy farmers. The 100% Arabica beans are roasted in the UK in small batches, and the blend we've chosen is a bold one with berry and citrus notes, dark roasted for a caramel finish. Basically it's a really good coffee, which tastes great served black or white.

our food

We love food. Whether it's a leisurely weekend brunch or a quick bite with a coffee, we believe it should taste great and be soul shakingly satisfying. We love our meat, and have some great suppliers providing us with meaty produce from around Scotland. If you're not a meat eater, we have plenty to offer you too - all our vegetarian and vegan dishes are made with the same love and attention as our meaty options so there's no compromising on flavour.

home baking

Nothing goes better with a great cup of coffee than a home made cake. Our cakes vary with the seasons and what we are in the mood for each day, but offerings usually include our milk chocolate brownies and orange polenta cake, both of which happen to be gluten free, and our super moist and tasty vegan banana loaf.
